spice tour

Zanzibar, also known as the Spice Island in the Indian Ocean, owes its myth and past status of both the slave as well as the spice trade. While slaves and ivory were plundered in the African hinterland and were shipped from Zanzibar in the wide world, the spices were grown to a large extent in Zanzibar. Even today there are still many plantations cultivated.
You can do spice tours as a day trip with visits of various plantations including lunch or make only a few hours to a single plantation and combine the trip with other activities (for example, Jozani National Park).
